"Avoid these units"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

I have had two units installed, a five ton and a two ton unit. The five ton has required servicing three times in under two years. The most recent service involved the replacement of the expansion valve for almost 500 dollars (the part is covered by warranty but the labor is expensive). For the initial cost of purchase and installation I expect a much more robust and functional system. I am considering the purchase and installation of both units as a considerable waste of a lot of money.

"Weak air blows to entire home"

I just installed this 4-ton CH33-44/46B-2F unit on 10-5-2016 after it was recommended by one of our A/C dealers, but I was surprised to find that the amount of air coming out of the vents was almost 50% less than my 25 year old unit. I complained about it to my dealer, but he kept saying he could do nothing about it, saying there is no control of fan speed. Now my home is not getting cooled or heated fast enough; even after one hour it is on. Buyers should be aware of this issue when you are buying a new Lennox unit. I called their consumer affairs unit, but the recorded message said that there is heavy call volume and call them back later.

"So far very satisfied"

I don't doubt that the negative reviews are warranted, however this unit is hugely quieter than our old unit, puts out a massive amount of cold air and was installed in less than four hours. Read Consumer Reports. There is virtually no difference between American Standard, Trane and Lennox. Period.

“从第一天很不高兴”

Unit was installed in August 2010. Start up has been extremely loud from the very beginning (see Youtube video someone posted). Was told that's normal. 3 years old and an integral piece had to be replaced (part was covered but still had to pay $75 service charge). Now just shy of 6 years old and the unit is louder while running. Service tech agreed the unit is louder than normal at start up and while running but could find nothing wrong. He told me they (********* Heating and Air Conditioning) would be in touch but never called. I've called and sent an email but still no response. Should also mention that we have an 1100 square foot 2 bedroom house and this unit is massive. I've seen smaller units on apartment buildings! I would never recommend Lennox products or ********* Heating in Western New York.

"Leak problem"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

This Lennox is the 3rd AC I've owned over the past 40 years. My 2 Trane units were trouble free the years I had them. This Lennox was installed just under 6 years ago (2010) and I am already facing 6 lbs. of Freon which leaked out of the unit. The cost to replace Freon is going to be approximately $700.00! No one can believe a fairly new unit which has been serviced with annual maintenance since installation is leaking. Lennox will never be installed on my property again and I will warn friends and family. I should have read reviews prior to purchasing it because previous reviews all support my dissatisfaction with the name "Lennox".

Other XC14 Reviews

There are a couple of posts on hvac-talk.com from homeowners asking about the sound levels of the XC14. The first one asks for a comparison between the XC14 and Lennox’s XC17, and while it sounds as though the XC17 is quieter, there were a few comments saying the difference is minimal. Most responses to the second post said that the XC14 is a pretty quiet unit.
